What is this test?

Quantitative Fluorescent PCR using STR markers.

When is this test recommended?

Prenatal samples (CVS, amniocentesis), recurrent pregnancy loss and suspected Down syndrome.

Sample type

Amniotic fluid, CVS, neonatal blood or products of conception.

Results

Aneuploidy status for target chromosomes within 24–48 hours.

Limitations

Does not cover all aneuploidies and may miss low-level mosaicism.
